Skateboarding was my first love.
In my first career, as a professional skateboarder, I became known
through the skateboarding magazines. Fortuitously, the magazine
photographs brought me to the attention of my first mentor in
photography, Richard Noble.
I learned much from the following photographers during those years,
and I would like to acknowledge them, as they helped pioneer the
art of skateboarding photography. These photographers did it for
the love of making pictures. Each came with their own style of
shooting motion and let their pictures speak for themselves:
James Cassimus, Ted Terrebonne, Craig Fineman, Bill & Stan
Sharp, Glen Friedman, and Jim Goodrich.
It is in part because of these wonderful artists that I became
a photographer myself.
